Goop and slime galore!: Sensory Activities

Goop? Slime? These may sound sticky, messy and unpleasant but they actually be a great sensory activity for your child! And you can make it in your own home with a few simple materials.

Goop 

Goop is an exciting that gives children the opportunity to feel many different textures and get messy!

What do I need? 

1/2 cup of cornstarch 

1/4 cup of water 

Any amount of food colouring that you desire!

plastic tin, pie plate or bowl to place goop in 

What do I do? 

1. Mix the cornstarch, water and food colouring together until it reaches the thickness that you want. If it feels to hard add a bit more water.

GET READY TO HAVE FUN WITH SOME GOOP

Slime 

All you need is some glue, liquid starch and food colouring and you can create this great activity for your child!

What do I need? 

1 1/2 cups of clear glue 

1 1/2 cups of liquid starch 

Any amount of food colouring that you want!

What do I do? 

1. Mix the clear glue and liquid starch in a bowl (it works best to mix it with your hands!)

2. Separate themixture into a few bowls (depends on how many different colours you want)

3. Add a different food colouring to each of the separate bowls and mix it in

NOW YOU’VE GOT SOME SLIME!

*You can store this in a plastic ziplock bag to save it for later

Some questions to ask you child: 

How does the goop/slime feel?

What is it doing?

What happened when we mixed the ingredients together?

Do you like how it feels? Why?
