The story follows Callie, a young girl and her brother Charlie, who has autism. Throughout the book she speaks about her and her brother’s relationship and how her brother is special in his own way. She explains that the doctors told their family that he would never say “I love you” but she shows us how he shows his love in many different ways through what he does! Callie loves her brother and appreciates him even when he makes her a little mad.

This books is great because it shows insight into autism from the siblings perspective. Following Callie through her journey we also learn how children make sense of their siblings of disability. This book could be a great resource to read with your child with special needs, their sibling or even to gain your own perspective of sibling relationships!

Check out this great video as Holly Robinson Peete and her daughter Ryan Elizabeth Peete speak about the inspiration for the book!
